Antinuclear antibodies (ANA) are a group of autoantibodies that have high specificity for a variety of antigenic determinants of cell nuclei. ANA's are quite useful as disease markers, primarily for diagnostic screening for Systemic Lupus Erythmatosus and to monitor the course of certain connective tissue diseases.
